Emerald Coast - Collaboration with HUION

A little while back, Huion sent me one of their latest tablets: the Kamvas 16 (2021)!

I’ll be leaving some opinions on the product below. To be entirely honest, I nearly bought one of these a little while back when I was looking around for a screen display tablet. This one will be a nice addition to my tool set (especially for traveling, or as a companion for a laptop workstation)

I do think Huion as a company has some of the best value for your money. They genuinely are really high quality products. So long as the tablet has some longevity and reliability.

I spent a few weeks working with the Huion Kamvas 16 and discovering how responsive and accurate the device is. The pen provides a very good drawing experience right out of the gate. It’s got the classic 8192 pressure levels and 60 degree tilt. All the usual stuff that's great to have.

The design of the tablet feels clean and professional. I do like the look of it quite a lot. Even the UI of the interface is pretty nice looking lol. The colors on the display seem great too. No complaints there! The product is also quite slim and lightweight. Great for traveling, or having a minimal footprint on your desk space. Desk real estate can get spicy very quickly when you have a giant tablet taking up all of your room lol. 15.6-inches of screen space is still a good amount without your arm and wrist feeling cramped.

Cord wise, It comes with two options. A USB-C to USB-C , and a 3 in one cable. Having a 3 in one is both good and bad. You eliminate a lot of the tangly cord mess, and it makes hooking up super fast and easy. At the same time, if that cord fails on you, you’re sorta stuck having to order a whole new one from the manufacturer. Like, you couldn’t really pick up JUST an HDMI because if one fails, they all essentially fail. Not the end of the world though I guess, they probably aren’t too expensive to replace. +

My only big complaint with this product is that It doesn’t have VESA arm mounts on the back. I like to have my tablets hooked up to a desk mounted swing arm, and I really can’t do that on this one unless I do some sort of 3rd party hack or something. I'm sure they probably have mounts for their larger tablets however, so if you're looking to do that with your setup, I'd suggest getting a bigger product.

In the end, you are paying $350 bucks instead of $650 for a really nice full screen tablet that feels just as professional as any of its competitors. Even if you already own something larger and more expensive, this provides a fantastic lower budget backup in case something happens to your current set up and you’ve got some crazy deadlines to hit.
